Girls do Science 2014 Spring Session

This club builds sisterhood, self-confidence, and science literacy while giving girls entering 2nd-5th grade a great opportunity to spend time with their friends. Each meeting will explore a different topic and will always include hands on activities sure to engage both past and new participants.. It is a fun and engaging environment, where girls will develop critical thinking skills including predicting, experimenting, observing, interpreting and communicating. Girls will work together in groups to do experiments and activities. The club meetings are from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. 2013 Spring Club Dates: Feb 3, 10, 17 March 3, 10, 17, 31 (no club meeting on March 24th for Spring Break) April 7, 21, 28

REGISTRATION CLOSED: 3rd and 4th Grade LEGO® Robotics 2013-2014

This is a great opportunity to learn robotics basics by working with LEGO Mindstorms®. Participants will build models, attach sensors and motors that are plugged into a computer, and configure behaviors using a simple programming tool. The curriculum is dynamic and fun with explorations in science, math, technology and engineering concepts. Participants are challenged by working with various problems hands-on, and solving them by using their own ideas and working together with others. All sessions will take place on Sundays approximately once per month. Please note that occasionally the club will meet on a different day of the month to accommodate holidays and other celebrations (e.g. Mother’s Day, New Years, etc.). Below are the meeting dates and times for the year. 3rd-4th Grade LEGO Robotics meets from 1-2:30 p.m. on October 27, November 24, December 1, December 8, January 26, February 2, February 23, April 6, April 27. $95 members, $105 nonmembers.

Join the Orpheum LEGO® Club, where members learn basic engineering and design skills through guided hands-on exploration. Create animals, buildings, simple machines, transportation, or build your own world! Each meeting includes innovative project ideas, sure to inspire a world of imagination that captures the natural interest of your junior engineer. All sessions will take place on Sundays approximately once per month. Please note that occasionally the club will meet on a different day of the month to accommodate instructors’ schedules, special events at the museum, holidays and other celebrations (e.g. Mother’s Day, New Years, etc.).Each club meets for a total of 9 times between October and May. 2nd grade LEGO Club meets monthly on Sunday from 1-2:30 p.m. The meeting dates are October 13, October 20, November 17, January 19, February 9, February 16, March 2, March 9, April 13 $80 members, $90 nonmembers.
