In the Antarctic, every March, the Emperor penguin begins its quest to find a mate, start a family, and find enough food to survive a perilous journey. Take part in this remarkable adventure as we transform the Orpheum Theatre into the Antarctic. Join a rookery and choose a spot to setup your community, find a lifelong mate, search for food, and incubate an egg. Understand what the penguins encounter on their journey under the harshest conditions on earth, all to find true love and start a family. Will you be able to survive and keep your chick alive? Waddle and slide your way through this family adventure, complete with an Antarctic Scientific Research Station. DoCha, downtown Champaign’s free chamber music festival, is returning to the Orpheum! DoCha creates chamber music-based experiences for all people that engage all of the senses. Committed to the idea that chamber music can and should be enjoyed by everyone, DoCha is fun, collaborative, engaging, and all. DoCha began as a collaborative effort among UIUC faculty, students, community members and friends under the coordination of Pacifica Quartet violist Masumi Rostad to experiment with new and fun ways to present chamber music. All performances will be free and will take place in the beautiful Orpheum Theatre. Join us to experience for yourselves how DoCha will transform this former vaudeville theatre into a unique and fun performance space for a 21st century audience!
